Poem a Day 26

Consolation of Philosophy, Book II

You seek, O human folly, far and wide
that thing that gives to life a joy and bliss;
you fail, and it were needful that you miss,
for wisdom seeks such joy and bliss inside.
What stupor wreaths your mind that you will quest
for joy already had, and seek outside
for what can only inside be possessed?
